Emergency Shelter for Somerset County Residents

Without the support of our local Clubs, Churches, organizations and many kind individuals, it would be difficult to maintain the day to day operations of our shelter.  Please consider supporting our efforts of providing a temporary home to those who are homeless.  

Donations Policy

Food, as well as Cleaning, Paper and Personal Care Products will be gladly accepted.
 Unless we have specifically requested them, please send your Clothing to a local thrift store.
We are accepting good condition, used furniture.  Please call to schedule all deliveries.

Sackcloth & Ashes donated 36 new blankets.  Sackcloth & Ashes is a blanket company that sells blankets throughout the world.  It is their effort to meet the needs of homeless shelters in communities, so for every blanket sold they give a blanket to the customers local homeless shelter.

Current Needs

Paper Products: toilet paper, napkins, Kleenex, paper towels

Office Supplies:  Stamps, copy paper, pens

Cleaning Products: Clorox Clean-up with Bleach; bleach, white vinegar, floor cleaner; laundry detergent; dish soap, dishwasher detergent, dish cloths, t-towels; trash bags 13 gal. and 30 gal. or larger trash bags
Maintenance Supplies: Light bulbs (60 watt energy-saving)
Towels and wash cloths

Monetary Donations are always excepted and appreciated to help pay for upkeep and utility cost for the shelter. Donations can be mailed or can be made through paypal. The paypal link is at the top of this page.  If you have questions please give us a call.
CLOTHING:  Please note  We do not have storage space for clothing and we work with other local agencies and churches to accommodate longer-term clothing needs of our guests.

This young man right here "Chance Heidorn" had a 7th birthday party and rather than receive gifts he collected all this for the Next Step Center. We are beyond grateful! To his mom Amanda you sure are raising an amazing kid who is aware of the needs around him. We had a great visit while he was there with us. Justin Kerrigan and I are proud of our new friend. Thank you to all his birthday guest who participated.

BOMBAS donates 250 socks to the Next Step Center.

And in return  Next Step Center donated 100 pairs of Bombas socks to the "We Will Recover 2017" event Sunday June 25 12- 7pm @ 132 Walnut St, Johnstown, Pa. (pictured Justin Patton & Lisa Wengerd_

The remaining socks will be given out to guests as the enter the shelter.  Thank you Bombas!  #BEEBETTER  #BOMBAS
